NFL Tebow: Broncos Interested?

I don't doubt the story from Peter King at all, but I do question why the Broncos would work out Tim Tebow this weekend.

Denver has the No. 11 overall pick -- they aren't using that on Tebow. They also have the 13th pick of the 2nd round; the only problem there is that Tebow won't be around.

Oh, and there's the not-inconsequential factor that the Broncos just traded for Brady Quinn, who isn't even guaranteed to be the starter (incumbent Kyle Orton).

Now, maybe the Broncos are trying to psyche a team into thinking they might take Tebow at No. 11 and trigger some kind of trade-up -- or maybe they will try to trade to the top of the 2nd.

I don't know. Of all the teams with publicized interest in Tebow, the Broncos seem like the worst circumstantial fit.

  1. IIRC, in the week before the Senior Bowl, both Lombardi & Davis said they thought Denver would be the best fit for Tebow (probably b/c HC McDaniels had been the QBC & OC w/the Pats & was 'mentored' by Belichick). That was before they got Quinn, but his contract is up at the end of this season. Brandstater's signed through 2012, but he's a back-up. Orton hasn't signed his contract yet, although he has shown up for the pre-season workout. So, in 2011, they most likely will need at least one new QB.
