Tim Tebow Will NOT Be a Jaguar

Per yesterday's post, would you like some implied confirmation that the Jaguars will not be selecting Tebow at No. 10 and -- in all likelihood -- will not be getting him at all? Just ask owner Wayne Weaver:

What we’ve got to do is trust our value board in our draft. If we force a pick, then we devalue thousands of hours of work by our scouts. We have to be true to our mission and go take the best player with our pick. When we do that, we get good results.

We all know we’ve done it the other way in the past and it didn’t work. Shame on you if you don’t learn from your mistakes. You stay true to your process.

And that, my friends, is that. My operating theory for a while was that Weaver would overrule his football people and tell them to take Tebow. Apparently, he will not do that.

Consequently, there is no way the Jaguars have Tebow at No. 10 on their "value board," and lacking a 2nd-round pick (or even any speculation they will be able to trade up to the top of the 2nd, where there will be a scrum for Tebow), Tebow will NOT be a Jaguar.

  1. Forgive me if I am not buying this. I've followed the draft long enough to know that everything teams say prior to the draft is a smokescreen. There's no way that the Jaguars would intentionally disregard Tebow. I'm sure they could trade down in the first round if they wanted to get more "value", as if having stands full of people wasn't valuable.

  2. The team that will pass up on drafting Tim will regret their decision ,just like a few teams last year who passed up on Percy Harvin who won Rookie of the Year.

    Tim is a one of a kind football player and the people who think he will be a dud in the NFL will be proven wrong.You go Tim, we believe in you.

    That's exactly what Jags GM Gene Smith said he wanted to do in that article Dan linked to earlier this week:

    "He suggested he wants to trade down in the first round to get more picks."

  4. It's probably a good thing if Tebow isn't drafted by the Jaguars. They are a horrible, horrible, horrible NFL franchise. Unless they move to LA they are worthless in every meaning of the word.

  5. I would love it for Tim to go to the Vikes, Colts or Eagles...all three coaches like him, and respect his talents.
