For today's game against Alabama, Tim Tebow is wearing eye-black featuring the passage John 16:33, which reads:
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
Every week, it is an open question whether Tebow is using the eye-black to have some sort of secular double-meaning -- that certainly seemed to be the case last week.
The phrase I put in bold seems to have that double-meaning: This game will be a struggle. And one of two outcomes will happen: Either Tebow and Florida will "overcome" Alabama, or they won't... but keep the game's result in life's larger perspective.
